Standing Strong: The Realities of Running a Pregnancy Center in Today’s Climate

Dear Friends and Supporters,

As the CEO of A Caring Pregnancy Center, I’m grateful for the steadfast support our community provides. However, as we continue our mission of empowering women and families facing unplanned pregnancies, I feel it’s important to share some of the challenges we face as a pregnancy center in Colorado.

Running a pregnancy center in today’s climate presents unique hurdles. While our core mission remains to offer life-affirming support, education, and resources to those in need, the landscape in which we operate is ever-evolving. Colorado is a state that offers both a high level of support and a significant level of complexity for organizations like ours.

One of the most significant challenges we face is the ongoing financial strain. As a non-profit, we rely heavily on donations from individuals, churches, and organizations to fund our free services, such as pregnancy tests, ultrasounds, parenting education, and material assistance. The demand for our services is high, but the resources required to meet these needs are often limited. Each year, we see more and more women and families turn to us for help, and while we remain committed to meeting those needs, the financial realities are a constant concern.

Another challenge we face is the cultural climate surrounding pregnancy and parenting. With increasing polarization around reproductive rights and choices, it can be difficult to navigate these sensitive conversations. At ACPC, we take a neutral, compassionate, and non-judgmental stance, but it’s still important to recognize that we sometimes face opposition from individuals or organizations that do not agree with our pro-life stance. Despite this, we remain committed to providing a safe space where women can receive counseling and support, regardless of their choices.

Finally, access to resources remains a persistent challenge. Colorado is a large state with varying levels of support in different areas. Rural communities often have limited access to pregnancy-related services and medical care. As we serve a diverse population, it’s crucial that we continue to bridge gaps by expanding our outreach efforts and ensuring that women, regardless of location or socioeconomic status, have the tools and support they need.

Despite these challenges, I am deeply inspired by the resilience and commitment of our staff, volunteers, and donors. Every day, I see lives changed through the love and support we provide at ACPC. Whether it’s a woman who chooses life for her baby, a father who learns how to be a better parent, or a family who finds hope during a difficult season, the impact of our work is immeasurable.

None of this would be possible without the incredible support of our community. I invite you to continue standing with us, whether through donations, volunteering, or simply spreading the word about our services. Together, we can continue making a profound difference in the lives of women and families in Pueblo and beyond.

Thank you for being a vital part of this mission. I look forward to the continued impact we will have together.

With gratitude,
Tamra Axworthy
CEO, A Caring Pregnancy Center
