Knights of Columbus Ultrasound Blessing
On August 19th, supporters gathered outside of the ACPC Women’s Clinic for a special blessing by Most Reverend Bishop Stephen J. Berg and the Knights of Columbus (KOC). ACPC CEO, Tamra Axworthy, welcomed everyone and announced the Board of Directors and staff members. She also thanked the Knights of Columbus for funding the purchase of a second ultrasound machine in partnership with Preborn!.
The Knights of Columbus Deputy, Jon Herskovits, spoke to supporters about the Knights of Columbus‘ relationship with pregnancy clinics. He stated that the organization had distributed over 40 ultrasound machines to pregnancy clinics across Colorado and internationally. He added that the ultrasound machines are funded by individuals united by the pro-life mission.
Serving Twice as Many Women
Herskovits awarded Axworthy a check to ACPC on behalf of the Knights of Columbus. With this donation, ACPC can now use both exam rooms at our Women’s Clinic, potentially allowing twice as many women to be seen at once. After being awarded the grant, Axworthy explained, "The Knights of Columbus have blessed us in so many ways. I know I can depend on them for prayer and encouragement, and I know they will always strive toward our shared goal of reaching women for Christ and saving the unborn from abortion. We are incredibly grateful to our local KOC, Our Lady of Fatima’s sponsoring chapter, and the state KOC for recognizing and investing in the work of ACPC."
A Window into the Womb
Bishop Berg and Axworthy escorted supporters to the ultrasound exam room, where the donated ultrasound machine is housed. The bishop blessed the machine, asking the Lord to protect and watch over the countless women and unborn babies who will benefit from it. Afterward, he prayed over our ultrasound model, Kylie, who is also our clinic receptionist.
She is 11 weeks pregnant with her first child and volunteered to model for our live demonstration. She settled onto the exam table as our sonographer, Lindy, set up the ultrasound machine. After a few moments, little feet, arm buds, a small round head, and a body appeared on the screen. "I was excited about seeing my baby in 3D at such an early gestational age." Kylie said, "The new technology is impressive, and many of the donors had never seen it in action before, even though they had contributed several machines."
This was the first time the Knights of Columbus members had witnessed a live ultrasound on a machine they had provided. When asked how they found the experience, some stated that it was pretty neat to see.
We are grateful to the Knights of Columbus and Bishop Berg for their donation of a second ultrasound machine, their prayers, and their continuous support of ACPC. Their generosity enables ACPC to continue introducing mothers to their unborn babies for many years to come, which is appreciated by everyone connected with ACPC.
