A Response Regarding the Roe Leak

From ACPC CEO, Tamra Axworthy:

On Monday evening, May 2nd, my son came to the house last night, and while our family was sitting visiting, I saw the breaking news from Politico about the SCOTUS draft being leaked. My gut instinct was to disbelieve; however, my heart jumped in my chest, urging me to do a quick search on my news feed to see if it was real. I saw the notice from Politico about the draft being leaked and my eyes filled with tears. My boys and my husband, being concerned over the sudden weeping, kept asking what was wrong. I handed my phone to my husband, unable to speak. After about 5 minutes of joyful tears and a few celebratory text messages to some friends, I came back down to earth and began questioning the timing of this news. Something didn’t feel right. I knew the Dobbs decision wasn’t expected till this summer, so I began reading articles and chatting with trusted friends about the very dangerous leak.

Within seconds of the news breaking, there was a shockwave of tweets and other media posts from anti-life Dems like Bernie Sanders, Nancy Pelosi, and Chuck Schumer calling for a revocation of the centuries old filibuster, to "court pack," and to shove through a federal law codifying abortion. Throughout the following day, I saw countless other tweets from President Biden, abortion-loving state legislators, governors, etc., all calling for immediate action at the state level to secure abortion access. It became clear to me that the leak was a political ploy by the left.

The situation that this breach has placed all 9 SCOTUS members and their families into is terrifying. I believe the person responsible wants at least one of those 5 majority judges to flip their vote and abandon their decision to overturn Roe. Our sitting judges need courage now more than ever in the face of the seething rage being targeted at them presently. As we’ve seen in the media the last couple of days, abortion radicals are declaring they want to "burn this place down" and "take to the streets." The abortion loving left will spend every moment between now and the day SCOTUS files their official decision spreading fear and propaganda to bully and sway the vote.

I will say that regardless of which side of the aisle that person is on, whomever is responsible for the leak is a criminal and has zero moral decency. I believe a full-scale FBI and DOJ investigation is warranted and the culprit should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. If it is discovered that the leak occurred at the behest of a sitting SCOTUS Judge, then that individual needs to be impeached immediately. We have to be careful not to let the source of the leak be seen as anything other than a criminal and a threat to our nation. Some will call this person a hero of the republic, but if we’re honest about it, we know how heinous their act truly was and we’d all agree they must be held accountable. According to Politco, there has never ever been a breach like this before in our nation’s history. Seeing our highest court’s effectiveness so harshly targeted by political intimidation indicates to us that nothing in our government or society is sacred anymore. This can’t stand. We must demand the source be revealed and prosecuted.

We know the decision regarding Roe isn’t final. The votes aren’t official, and the draft is still just a draft. It isn’t over yet, and while we wait, ACPC will continue to fight for women. In Colorado, nothing changes. Current law in our state allows abortion for any reason, at any age, up to the moment of birth. RHEA, which was recently passed in Colorado, is the most radical law in the country. Roe no longer being the law of the land will do nothing in our state. However, we will continue to fight for the lives of the unborn. We will continue to fight for families, wholeness, and health in the Pueblo area as we have for the last 38 years. We will continue to advocate for and work to build a culture that values all human life. We will not falter in our mission to provide professional and practical help to women and their families. We are here for her. Our role and motivation has never been politics but to offer support to those who need it most, because every woman deserves to be loved, supported, and respected in her pregnancy. Our blessing is in blessing her and walking with her as she makes her decision. However, it is our civic responsibility to voice concern and to speak up against unjust and immoral laws. As such, we will work to stop Abortion on Demand from becoming a constitutional right in Colorado, which we know to be the purpose behind the rushed passing of RHEA.

What a tragedy it is to see corporations offering to pay for employees' expenses like out of state travel, offering paid time off, or even covering the abortion procedure entirely rather than offering parental leave for delivering and caring for their baby. They’d rather pay to ensure their workers have access to out-of-state abortions than to actually care for the women they employ. Hundreds of millions of dollars are being funneled into providing medication abortions and out of state abortions. It’s a shame to see that kind of money dedicated to death rather than care. Women should never have to sacrifice their children to reach their goals. Abortion isn’t health care. It fuels desperation and hurts women. It’s not a solution, but exacerbates the problem. Our children are not commodities.

If and when the day comes that Roe is overturned, we will see a restoration of democracy. Democracy happens when voters are allowed to vote. Overturning Roe sends abortion law back to the states where the people will be the judge of how and when abortions should be legal in their communities. By reversing Roe, the Court would be fulfilling its duty to uphold our constitution. We know that the original decision regarding Roe was wrongly decided and totally unjust. The top down edict based not on constitutional interpretation or medical knowledge was decided without precedent or logic at all. In 1973, ultrasounds did not exist to the extent they do today. We can now measure fetal cardiac rhythms in the 5th week of gestation. Brain waves can be measured at 6 weeks. We know babies respond to light, sound, and pain in the womb, and yet Roe has made it legal to take the lives of children on demand and up to the moment of birth. This far exceeds the range that SCOTUS members could have foreseen 50 years ago. They admitted that once fetal viability could be confirmed scientifically, then abortion would no longer be justifiable. We’ve seen the abortion pendulum swing so far that the American people are ready to re-examine Roe in light of scientific advancements that favor giving innocent life a fighting chance.

The anti-life extremists want us to be silent. They want us to cower in fear to them and still our pro-life voice. However, we are so close to seeing our fundamental, God-given, forefathers-penned right to life protected again on a national level. The Declaration of Independence outlines those rights to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. The 14th amendment guarantees equal protection. It’s not enough to end Roe. We have to fight for human rights from the moment of conception. We are on the cusp of a new era, witnessing one of the greatest human rights victories in our nation’s history. Our right to life isn’t decided by the mob rule. They are indisputable. They are inalienable. We will continue to speak for those who have no voice in order to elevate pre-born life until the idea of stopping a visibly beating heart in the womb is no longer thinkable in our country. The lost generation, 62 million slaughtered children, will have a voice through us. The happy tears that were shed in the temporary joy that came with the leak are staunched until the final decision is published this summer. The shadow that has rested over our nation for the last 50 years since Roe was decided is about to be lifted. At that time, I’m sure we will see the dawn as a Post-Roe nation and the tears of joy will flow once more.
