Roe V. Wade Overturned
FROM ACPC CEO, TAMRA AXWORTHY:
I’ve heard it said that "[T]he Colorado landscape sure has changed a lot for a state whose abortion laws haven’t changed." That is certainly true. The Reproductive Health Equity Act (RHEA) codified Colorado’s extreme abortion laws into statute, simultaneous sweeping an entire class of human beings of their basic fundamental rights. A bill whose sponsors admitted to rushing through it out of fear in the face of a Supreme Court decision concerning Roe has in fact caused quite a lot of damage in our beautiful state.
No longer are visions of majestic mountains, snow-covered slopes, vast ranches, amazing rivers, and wildlife all we imagine when we think of "Colorful Colorado." Instead, many see Colorado as an abortion destination with all the pain, destruction, and suffering it brings. "Comedians" like Amy Schumer even go so far as to release tourism/promotional videos on the topic of abortion in Colorado. Controversial billboards line the border, welcoming women to Colorado for their abortions. COBALT and other pro-abortion agencies are actively fundraising to bring women into our state for their procedures. Our economy profits in no way from these efforts. There’s no tax revenue. Babies are killed, and women are hurt. The only people benefiting from this campaign are the abortionists themselves.
Aside from removing any hint of a restriction, cause for pause, reporting requirement, or regulation at all, the passing of RHEA has also stripped local governments of their jurisdiction and rights to oppose the procedures within their own city limits. We’ve seen cities and counties in other states pass local bans and ordinances against abortion that have saved thousands of lives in our nation. However, the literal shoving of RHEA through the legislature has cut us off at the knees in Colorado, rendering us helpless to fight against the clear and present danger that Dr. LeRoy Carhart now poses to Pueblo. For more information on that, see the SPF website at savepueblosfuture.com. We’re thankful for those in our state who won’t stand silently by while this 81-year-old partial-birth abortionist preys on the women in our community, and frankly, the entire region.
Luckily, there is still light. There is still reason to rejoice. With Roe v. Wade relinquished to the trash heap of history, we are seeing state after state wake up to the reality of abortion in their own communities. What once felt like a fantasy has become reality for millions of Americans who prayed, fasted, and fought daily to protect life. We now see legislators who are bold in their values, standing strong on the belief that All Human Life is Sacred and Worthy of Protection. There are beacons of hope all around us, and we can feel their prayers for Colorado.
With support from our local community as well, ACPC will continue to provide practical care, encouragement, and unbiased education to our clients. We will see more families equipped to provide loving homes for their children; more students will be empowered; and there will be more brothers and sisters welcomed into the Kingdom of God.
Thank you for joining us in 2022 to Elevate Life. We look forward to what we can do together in 2023.
